The Descent to Not

Authorization

You are reading this right now. Who authorized you to do this? Who gave you authorization to read this page? Ultimately, no matter what your circumstances, you are the one that authorized the action of reading.

It is a trick question really. We don’t need to know your circumstances to know that you authorized the action because we are the only ones that can authorize any of our own actions. Authorization for action comes from within ourselves.

Not Tarot Card - Key 5: Authorization

Descent V

Authorization

Silhouetted against a sunrise or a sunset, a figure stands with arms outstretched in a victorious stance of achievement. Who authorized this person to feel accomplishment? Who authorized this person to have any feelings? Who authorized this person? Who authorizes anyone? In the top-left corner of this card is the AON symbol for Authorization indicating that Authorization is part of the Self Well.

Revisiting the questions this card poses, we can refine them down into two fundamental seed questions: “Who?” and “Authorization for...?”

The answer to “Who?” is the Self . For each of us, the Self is the only source of true Authorization. The answer to “Authorization for...?” is twofold: Authorization for being and Authorization for action. When combined with the realization of Who, we conclude that the Self is the only true source of Authorization for our being and in turn Authorization for us to perform actions.

Having removed the Judgement inherent in Key 6, we now arrive at fundamental Authorization for Being. Here at Authorization there is no Judgement. Here there is none of the Morality we found in Key 6 (Good & Evil). Here is only the realization that we exist because we exist and there is nothing to judge. This is almost the purest possible mode of being.

Authorization

Authorization comes from within

Humans are all searching for truth, meaning, purpose, acceptance, validity and ultimately for authorization. We are trying to find our path. We are trying to find ourselves. In that search, some of the most precious treasures we desire are acceptance, validation and authorization for our existence.

This need for authorization is so fundamental and so deeply embedded in our psyches that it would be futile to consider life without it. It is truly important, and it is part of what makes us human.

Where can we find it?
